Head Extreme Team 20257.1

Conclusion

The Extreme Team gives easy depth from the back glass and a little extra weight on overheads without a harsh response. It suits beginners and intermediates who want a first diamond that stays comfortable. Players who accelerate hard or want spin should look elsewhere: the ball sinks into the fiberglass face and the smooth surface grips little.

The Extreme Team 2025 is the entry model of Head's Extreme family, the diamond line that also includes the Extreme Pro and the Extreme Motion played by Paula Josemaría. It keeps the family's diamond shape and fairly high balance, but swaps the carbon face of its siblings for fiberglass over a Power Foam core. That makes it the softest racket in the 2025 Extreme range and the one aimed at players still building their game.

The 2025 update brings the new drilling pattern of the whole line and Head's soft butt cap, now with an exchangeable wrist cord. Unlike the Motion and Pro, the Team gets no rough surface. List price sits around €200, but retailers regularly sell it for €120 to €130, which puts it much closer to mid-range money.

What the Reviewers Say

What the reviewers say

The reviewers agree on the character: comfortable, forgiving, and easy to play from the back, with a touch more help overhead than a typical soft racket.

Probando Palas tested it alongside the Motion and Pro and called it "a very comfortable racket from the back of the court" with a well-optimised sweet spot. He also found the limit: once you speed up your arm, "the ball sinks further into the face" and you lose some control, which he puts down to the fiberglass. On the flat smash, he said, it will not travel far.

Total Padel's playtester found it "super easy to play with", with access to easy power at slower ball pace and a softer touch, and called it the most forgiving racket of the range and a strong pick for entry level.

Padel Smash Pro Shop describes it as "easy to trust for players who want power without a harsh response", but points expert tournament players towards the stiffer Extreme models.

Padel Nuestro is the most cautious on attack. It praises comfortable lobs, easy wall returns and good control on low balls, but notes that offensively it "falls a bit short" and needs a fuller swing to get depth.

How it plays..

Our take: Lars's summary

This is a comfortable racket first and an Extreme second. It rewards patient, steady play from the back: resets, lobs and deep balls come easily and off-centre hits do not punish you. Point builders should note the smooth face, though. Without grit, a bandeja or slice that pushes the opponent back has less bite than on the Motion.

Defense

Defense is its best zone. The soft face and forgiving sweet spot make lobs, wall exits and low balls easy to control, and the weight is manageable enough for quick adjustments.

Attack

At slow and medium pace the balance adds some weight to overheads and the ball leaves the face without much effort. Push harder and the fiberglass absorbs the hit. Topspin smashes work; flat smashes and fast víboras lack punch compared with the carbon Extremes.

Netplay

At the net it gives good depth on volleys for a medium-soft racket, and the bandeja is easy to place. You will need to work your wrist to add spin, because the face is smooth.

Our Advice for New Players

A good fit for beginners who want a diamond shape without the usual harshness. The comfort and forgiveness help while your technique develops, and it will not hurt your arm.

Our Advice for Intermediate Players

The sweet spot for this racket. Intermediates who like a medium-soft feel and want a little more at the net than a round all-rounder gives will get a lot out of it.

Competitive level

Advanced players will find it too soft and too smooth. When you accelerate hard, the ball sinks in and control drops. Look at the Extreme Motion or Pro instead.

How It Compares

How it compares

  • Head Extreme Motion 2025: the step up. Carbon face, rough 3D surface and a firmer feel give far more power and spin at high pace. Pick the Motion once you swing fast and want to finish points; pick the Team if comfort matters more.
  • Head Evo Extreme 2025: cheaper, lighter and a teardrop, so even easier to handle. Pick the Evo as a first racket; pick the Team if you want the diamond's extra weight overhead.
