What the reviewers say

The 2027 Neuron 02 is too new for a full on-court video review. The people who have hit with it, handled the range at launch, or read the official catalogue agree on the character: hard, dry, precise, and not generous with free power.

Javier, the in-house padel expert at Bandeja Shop, put several hours into it in matches and training and calls it "versatile, controlling and precise: an evolution focused on feel and stability", adding that the shape "promotes placed shots to the backcourt and constructive phases without seeking raw power". He names the other side of that too: "the control and stability compromise results in a rather firm racket", and players with a history of wrist or elbow trouble may want a softer core.

NINEPADEL, who stock the whole 2027 line, put it in one sentence: "The Neuron is the hard hybrid. Firm, dry response. Built for precision and bite rather than trampoline comfort." Their advice is to skip it if you prefer a soft MultiEVA feel.

Guido De Francesco at Zona de Padel arrives at the same place from the spec side, writing that the hybrid shape, the contained balance and the Hard EVA core make it "a dry, controllable, and highly consistent racket", and warning that control here "does not mean a soft or easy racket".

The two channels that covered the launch add the detail nobody else had. Hotel Palas put the change of core straight to Bullpadel's head of design, Pablo Robaletti, who frames it as a decision about precision: "when we talk about precision, the ball cannot stay long on the face, the exit has to be exact so you can put the ball where you want it". Asked to separate Hard EVA from MultiEVA in ten seconds, he answers that Hard EVA actually gives a little more ball back, but only if you know how to move the racket. In the same video Chingotto says he played the Madrid P1 with the standard 02 rather than his own Edge, because he expected a fast ball and wanted the extra control.

Dani 13 went through the 2027 catalogue page by page and finds the same thing in the data: "we can confirm that the Hard EVA is the hardest rubber of them all", above MultiEVA on Bullpadel's own hardness scale. He also points out that the layering is inverted, a thin soft skin over a thick hard centre, where MultiEVA is hard over soft. And he is honest that he has not hit it yet: the open question is whether it still behaves like MultiEVA at slow rhythms and only separates itself at pace.

Where they part company is how much attack is in it. Padel Market's guide to the range describes a large sweet spot and a controlled balance "for strategic players who build every point", which reads friendlier than NINEPADEL's hard hybrid. Both can be true. The 525 cm² face is generous for a control racket. The Hard EVA core under it is not.

Our take: Kaj's summary

This is a precision tool, and the 2027 change makes it less forgiving than the racket it replaces. The Hard EVA core gives cleaner feedback and a very predictable launch, and Bullpadel's own head of design says it returns a little more ball than the 2026 MultiEVA, but only once you accelerate into it, so a technique still under construction will hear about every mishit. The Neuron 02 Comfort trim exists for exactly that player. Contact the ball cleanly already, and win points by placing rather than hitting, and the payoff is a face that does the same thing every single time.

Defence is the strongest part of this racket. The low balance point and the enlarged Air Power channel make it quick to get into position off the glass, and PrismLock keeps the face from turning when a heavy ball arrives late. Blocks and defensive lobs come back accurately. What it costs you is depth: a Hard EVA core gives no free lift, so on jammed or stretched balls you have to make the length yourself.

There is pace here, but you supply it. The hybrid shape and the modest balance keep the head close to your hand instead of loading weight above it, so a flat smash needs a full, committed swing to clear the glass. Where it does attack well is with spin: the 3D Grain texture grips hard enough to let a víbora or a bajada do the work instead. Players who finish with angle rather than raw speed get more out of it than smashers, who are better served by the Hack 05 or the XPLO.

At the net the low balance earns its keep. Volleys stay low and go where you aim them, the face does not twist when you get jammed, and the bandeja repeats cleanly because the racket stays quiet through contact. It is efficient rather than punchy. You can finish the point from up there, but the frame is not adding speed on its own.

How it compares

Against the Neuron 02 Edge 2027, its sibling in the same family, the choice comes down to shape and balance. The Edge is geometric, sits higher in the balance and feels harder again, which suits clean strikers who want to attack. This one is the calmer, more manoeuvrable hybrid for players who want to dictate rather than finish.

Inside our own library the closest reference is the Bullpadel Neuron Tour Final 24, Chingotto's earlier control hybrid: same philosophy, softer core, smaller sweet spot. If the 2027's dry feel is more than you want, the Bullpadel Vertex 04 Hybrid 2025 gives you a similar low balance with a more forgiving medium touch, for less money.
