How to deal with balls close to the glass walls.

PadelJo
🏆 #1 Takeaway - How should I play balls that end up close to the glass?
For side glass, either swat close to the glass without touching or hit into the glass; for back glass after a lob, consider moving back for a Bandeja, scooping a lob off the glass, or hitting back against your own glass.

What Your Guru Thinks

This is very helpful if you struggle with balls that get stuck close to the glass. Sandy covers the key situations where this happens near the side glass and the back glass. He provides several options for how to handle these tricky shots. Understanding these options can help you avoid losing the point from a difficult defensive position.

How to Play 'Close to Glass' - Padel Tips

Description

This can be REALLY FRUSTRATING when your opponents hit a (lucky) shot that ends up next to the glass.

This is common with the side glass and the back glass - so here we discuss a couple of ways to deal with these balls!

This video explains how to hit against the back glass: https://youtu.be/ktasv2cpJHk

The key to dealing with this shot is anticipating the situation might occur early and judge the trajectory so that you can decide a good time to take it.

Not mentioned in the video, but try to keep a cool head while playing this shot, having a desperate swipe at the ball will likely not have the best results!
