Emilian at PADELREVIEW ENG called it "the ultimate all-round racket" and offered an admission: "Looking back now, how did I not put this in my top 10 of 2025?" He rated lobs 7.5, control and maneuverability 7.5, smash and víbora 8.5 after on-court testing with a playing partner. His read on the feel: "It's not soft. You feel the ball. Minimum level: upper-intermediate to advanced."

The team at pdhsports tested the full Counter range head-to-head and ranked the Viper clearly above its siblings: "The big difference being the rough texture from the 3D spin technology, but also the 3K carbon. It's Babolat's firmest carbon, so it gives a really immediate touch, good control, but if you're able to generate a good contact, then a really good force as well." Their verdict for who it suits: "If you're the advanced player looking for a bit more action on the ball, good feeling, and a firm racket, then the Counter Viper is the one for you."

Padel Review (Italian, Emilian and Alvin) went deep with court time and came away similarly convinced. Alvin summarised the feeling bluntly: "When you want to give weight to the ball, it travels. You get good effects on it." The víbora in particular impressed, and both reviewers noted the lob performance as a surprise given the hard feel. Their honest caveat: the firm impact was felt on the arm after longer sessions, with direction changes at the net in fast exchanges proving more demanding than the weight suggests.

The Counter Viper 2026 is a better racket than its shape classification suggests. Round frames get pigeonholed as soft and slow, but this one is neither. The 3K carbon face delivers sharp, spinny ball exit on counter-attacks and the heavy balance point drives smashes and víboras with more weight than most round frames can muster. The trade-off is speed: at 368g with a head-heavy setup, quick net exchanges and rapid direction changes cost more arm energy than they should. Right-side finishers who rely on fast forehand volleys to close points will notice the extra work. The Vibrabsorb system does real damage-control on arm fatigue, but it does not eliminate the issue. Play within your technique and this racket rewards discipline; try to flick with it and it pushes back.

Defense is where this racket earns its name. The large sweet spot stays stable under incoming pace, and balls coming off the glass replay consistently rather than spraying. Lobs get notable length and direction even without a full swing, which is the hallmark of a good defensive frame. The 3K carbon and the head-heavy balance drive through the ball on overhead acceleration, which is unusual for a round frame. Where it falls short is in close-range finishing: at 368g it asks for a deliberate, weighted swing, not a quick flick. Players who need to generate explosive force from a short backswing at the net will not find it here.

At the net the picture splits. Flat volleys, blocks, and the dedada (touch shots along the glass) were highlighted by multiple reviewers as strengths. Emilian described the feel at the net as "incredible" on flat volleys and solid on defensive reactions. Where the extra weight becomes a factor is in extended net rallies and rapid cross-direction exchanges. Padel Review's Alvin noted that quick direction changes at the net "suffer a little" and arm fatigue becomes noticeable over time.
