Winning points: patience, anticipation and positioning

Winning points in padel requires patience rather than raw power. Treat the point like chess by maneuvering opponents into difficult positions to create gaps. Use a bandeja or angled shots to keep opponents pinned in the back of the court until an opening appears. The penultimate shot is often more important than the final winner, as it forces the opponent out of position and opens the court.

Anticipate the next shot by watching the opponent's racket and body language. A racket face positioned lower than the ball indicates an upcoming lob, allowing for early preparation. When a weak reply occurs, move forward quickly to the net position. Contacting the ball above net height allows for an aggressive finish that is difficult for the opponent to return. These principles apply to serving, holding the net after a bandeja, or moving forward to attack a short ball.
