Stand midway between the center line and the side glass. This position prevents you from leaving a large gap in the middle and keeps the ball closer to the glass after the bounce.
Serving from a wide position creates a larger gap in the middle of the court for the opponent to attack. This wide angle also causes the ball to rebound further off the side glass, which makes the return easier for experienced players. Standing midway between the center line and the side glass provides a more balanced starting position for standard formations.
High-speed serves into the glass often rebound too far away to be effective against competent returners. Control the speed to keep the ball closer to the glass, forcing the opponent to decide between playing the ball before or after it hits the wall. Simple serving actions are more reliable than attempting excessive spin or power. This approach suits players transitioning from beginner to intermediate levels who need to neutralize better returners.
