Effective serving relies on a consistent contact point at belly button height to allow for acceleration. Dropping the ball lower than the waist forces an upward trajectory that makes the serve easy to return or lob. A stable, non-dominant hand remains fixed at the toss position to prevent over-rotation and ensure a precise contact point. Adjusting the toss location relative to the body dictates the direction, with a ball tossed further in front facilitating cross-court placement and a ball closer to the body aiding central serves.

Positioning close to the middle line minimizes the distance required to reach the net and limits the opponent's ability to use the side glass. A follow-through directed forward rather than sideways maintains control and prevents arm strain. Prioritizing precision and depth over raw speed forces the opponent to play a difficult return, setting up an easier first volley. Practicing the motion against the back wall helps eliminate unnecessary racket movement during the preparation phase.
