The LTA instructor readiness test evaluates specific technical standards across four core areas. The lob task requires five consecutive balls to land deeper than the service line and touch the glass before dropping. For groundstrokes, the candidate must hit 15 balls in one minute, ensuring at least six are played off the back glass with compact preparation and recovery to a ready position behind the service line.

Serving requires 16 total serves, split evenly between the left and right sides, with eight landing in the first panel of the side glass. The technique must involve a high-to-low racket path to generate slice, avoiding upward contact that causes the ball to rebound high. Volleying standards demand 15 balls landed beyond the service line in one minute, with a minimum of six backhand volleys. Players must maintain a ready position with the racket tip high while standing level with the second post. The final assessment involves a demonstration of either a return of serve, a neutralising shot after being lobbed, or a tactical approach to taking the net.
