The kick smash requires precise contact points to ensure the ball rebounds out of the court via the three-meter side fence. Aiming for a bounce closer to the net allows the spin to take effect more effectively than a deep bounce. High power is not always necessary, as excessive force can lead to errors when the opponent is capable of retrieving balls from outside the court.

Shortening the preparation phase allows for greater control and the ability to disguise the shot. By keeping the racket motion compact, the player gains the option to execute a fake smash, hitting the ball softer when the opponent moves forward. This unpredictability forces opponents to hesitate rather than anticipating a powerful smash every time. Practicing both the high-power kick and the softer fake smash with the same initial preparation makes the player more difficult to read during high-level matches.
