Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 20258

Conclusion

Fast through the air with heavy víboras and kick smashes when you hit the centre of the face. Built for advanced left-side attackers with a committed swing; intermediate players and anyone who plays tentatively will find the small, low sweet spot unforgiving.

The Oxdog Ultimate Pro Smash 2025 is the Swedish brand's attempt at a thin racket. Where almost every padel racket is 38 mm thick, this one is 30 mm, and the whole idea is to move the head faster through the air on overheads. It sits in the Ultimate line next to the Ultimate Pro and Ultimate Pro+, shares their sandy HES Carbon faces and Medium+ rubber, and costs the same list price of around €319.

It is a diamond with a medium-hard feel and roughly 365 g on paper, with a removable 8 g cap in the throat that changes the balance. To keep a thin frame from vibrating, Oxdog put its Power Ribs grooves in three places on the frame instead of one. Reviewers agree on the result: the frame stays quiet and solid, but the sweet spot sits lower and more central than on the other Ultimates.

What the Reviewers Say

What the reviewers say

The reviewers agree that the thin profile makes the racket fast in the hand, and disagree sharply on how much power it gives back.

Dani 13 calls it the Oxdog he can be most offensive with once he learned to hit lower on the face, saying that from the centre "the ball runs more for the same effort, even more than with the Ultimate Pro Plus". He also warns that contact high on the face feels dry and leaves the ball short, so the feel changes with where you hit, and that the extra rebound can send firm volleys into the glass.

Roberto Cardi of Padel Test is the most enthusiastic. He rates the víbora, bandeja and smash at the top of his scale and says he has never played a víbora with so much weight on the ball, but he calls the touch quite hard and says it is not for intermediate players.

Padel Review (Emiliano and Albin) is the most critical. They found it "a racket that never helps" when you swing tentatively, with a woody sound off-centre and a small sweet spot, and on flat smashes they found less power than the Ultimate Pro. They did praise how solid it is on blocks.

How it plays..

Our take: Bowe's summary

The speed through the air is real, and the dry, crisp contact with good grip on the sandy face rewards players who place the ball and work it with spin on the víbora. The trade-off is precision: the sweet spot is centred lower than a diamond usually is, and off-centre hits feel dead, so it punishes late or tentative swings more than the Ultimate Pro does.

Defense

Defense is better than the shape suggests. Dani 13 was surprised by the ball exit from the back when he hit from the centre, and the quick head helps on rushed balls. Padel Review felt less comfortable under pressure: if you do not swing with intent, the ball can stay short.

Attack

Spin overheads are where it shines: víboras, bandejas and kick smashes come off fast and heavy. Flat smashes split the reviewers. Roberto Cardi found them excellent, while Padel Review struggled to put inertia on the ball. Hitting lower on the face than you are used to is the key to the power.

Netplay

At the net it moves quickly and blocks are solid, with no shake on the arm. The added rebound from the centre helps short blocks reach depth, but on firm attacking volleys you need a downward finish or the ball floats long.

Our Advice for New Players

Not a racket for beginners. The medium-hard feel, the small, low sweet spot and the need for a committed swing make it hard work.

Our Advice for Intermediate Players

Most intermediate players will get more from the Ultimate Pro or a softer, more forgiving racket. Every reviewer advised against it below an advanced level.

Competitive level

Advanced and expert left-side players with a fast arm and good technique on spin overheads are the target. If you like a firm, dry feel and want more head speed than the other Ultimates give, it is worth trying.

How It Compares

How it compares

Against the Oxdog Ultimate Pro, the Smash is faster in the hand and livelier from the centre, while the Ultimate Pro is easier to play and, for Padel Review, hits a flat smash harder. The Oxdog Ultimate Pro+ is firmer and more demanding still; Dani 13 found the Smash gives more help at the same effort. If you want a thin racket mainly for manoeuvrability, the Smash is the most developed option in the line.
