Dunlop Galactica Lite 20238.2

Conclusion

The Galactica Lite handles fast and places the ball with precision, which suits intermediate and advanced players who win points on placement. Pure power hitters should look elsewhere: smashes need clean technique to finish, and the ball output stays moderate.

The Galactica Lite 2023 is the lighter, control-oriented version of Dunlop's Galactica. It combines 12K carbon construction with an Ultra Soft EVA core in a hybrid shape, and it sits at the light end of the scale with an even balance. Dunlop adds its Tri-Max reinforcement to keep the frame stable, and the rough surface gives the ball grip for spin. It is priced in the mid-range.

How it plays..

Our take: Lars's summary

The Galactica Lite suits players who build a point and work the opening before they finish it. Low weight and an even balance make it quick to handle, and the soft core gives clear feedback on each contact. The sweet spot is medium in size but forgiving for a control racket, so off-centre blocks and resets still stay accurate. Right-side point builders get a lot from it, as long as they accept moderate ball output.

Defense

Defense

Defense is where this racket does its best work. The low weight helps on fast reactions, and the soft EVA core absorbs pace from hard-hit balls. Through long defensive rallies the carbon frame stays stable, so lobs and clearances come off controlled. That makes it easy to reset a point from the back of the court.

Attack

Offense

In attack the Galactica Lite gives clean, controlled shots, but limited power. The rough surface adds spin, which helps with angles and variation. Smashes need good technique to reach full power. What you get back is placement: a smash to the right spot makes up for some of the missing pace.

Netplay

Net play

At the net, the light weight and even balance make fast exchanges easy. Volleys feel crisp and controlled, and the soft touch helps on drop shots and short placements. When the exchanges speed up, the Tri-Max reinforcement keeps the frame stable on both defensive and attacking volleys.

Our Advice for New Players

Beginners

The low weight is appealing, but the Galactica Lite asks for some technique before it pays off. Beginners may find it hard to generate power consistently. A more forgiving, power-oriented racket is the better choice while the basics develop.

Our Advice for Intermediate Players

Intermediate players

A good fit at this level. The control helps players refine placement and technique, and the quick handling supports learning more advanced shots at the net. Because the balance is even, no part of your game is held back by the racket.

Competitive level

Advanced players

Advanced players who rely on placement and tactics will get strong control and touch from it, and it adapts well to different game situations. Players who win their points on power will want a racket with more punch.
