Vibora technique: small backswing and side slice

ViboraOct 26, 2020

Key takeaway from our Guru

How do I hit a consistent vibora?

Keep your backswing small and prepare with your racket high. Focus on hitting the side of the ball at three o'clock to generate the side slice that makes the ball stick to the glass.

What this lesson covers

The vibora relies on a compact backswing to maintain control and generate effective side slice. Players should prepare with the racket head higher than the contact point to allow for a downward acceleration that keeps the ball low. A common mistake involves taking the racket too far back or hitting the ball too close to the body, which causes the shot to float. By keeping the elbow closer to the body and focusing on a contact point at three o'clock on the ball, the player creates a trajectory that makes the ball stick to the side wall after hitting the back glass.

Targeting varies based on the desired outcome. When playing to the center, use more slice and less speed to force the ball to rebound awkwardly off the walls. For cross-court shots, increase the speed and reduce the slice to drive the ball deep toward the corner. This shot is intended for balls closer to the net, while deeper balls require a bandeja. Advanced players can use the vibora to manipulate the opponent's position, creating space by forcing them to defend deep or move forward to cover the middle.

How To Learn The Vibora #PT22

Description

Learn the vibora TODAY with this step by step method! This method is a great way to learn to 'feel the vibora' because it might be a very different shot than you are used to. If you are able to play this shot you can be very dangerous at the net! Because of the side slice, the ball is very hard to read when it hits the back wall. It is also more difficult to half-volley this shot when you play it before the line. Many reasons to start to use this shot more often, but be careful. Only hit this shot when you are close to the net, for balls that are deeper in the court you should choose the bandeja. The most important reason I will tell in the video. :) If we can get 200 likes I will do another vibora video! The support on the last vibora video was amazing!
