This lesson analyzes professional match footage to demonstrate how to maintain the net position. The primary objective is to avoid losing the net, as most points are won from this area. When forced to hit a bandeja from behind the white line, the goal is to use a speed that allows enough time to recover the net position before the opponent hits the next ball. A cross-court lob is preferred over a parallel one because the longer diagonal provides a larger margin of error.

Defensive play involves using the side glass to recover difficult balls when out of position. When an opponent hits a ball toward the shoulder, letting it pass behind the head before hitting allows for a better angle. To move opponents, direct the ball to their feet or into the gap between them. This forces them to switch sides and keeps them at the back of the court. Stepping forward after a defensive shot helps shorten the court and puts pressure on the opponent.
