The serve begins with a controlled bounce that creates space for the player to move forward. By stretching the arm during the final bounce, the player ensures the ball lands far enough from the body to allow for a fluid transition toward the net. This forward movement is necessary to add body weight to the shot and to reach the net position quickly, allowing the server to join their partner in an attacking formation.

To achieve the required slice, the racket moves upward behind the head before swinging down through the ball. The player maintains eye contact with the ball until the moment of impact to ensure accuracy. By pushing the ball into the bounce rather than letting it drop, the server hits at waist height to effectively lower the net. After the serve, the player must return to a neutral position to prepare for the first volley, which should ideally be directed toward the same opponent who returned the serve to force an uncomfortable shot.
