Defending from the right side requires disciplined shot selection to neutralize the opponents at the net. Playing straight balls to the backhand of the net player prevents them from creating angles. When forced to play cross-court, target the backhand specifically to limit the opponent's options. Always aim for a low contact point to ensure the ball stays below the net, which prevents the attackers from hitting aggressive volleys or smashes. If the contact point is high, the risk of conceding an angle increases significantly.

Strategic lobs should be directed deep over the left shoulder of the left-sided player. This forces the opponent to move backward and limits their ability to execute a kick smash. Chiquitas played into the center of the court serve to neutralize the net position, allowing both defenders to move forward safely. When the partner struggles in the corner, shifting toward the center provides necessary support to cover the middle. Mixing soft shots with high lobs disrupts the rhythm of the attackers, often creating opportunities to transition from defense to attack. On difficult balls, stepping in to take the shot before it hits the glass can simplify the return.
