Winning points against advanced players requires a shift from immediate aggression to patient point construction. Beginners often finish rallies with a single powerful shot, but higher-level opponents defend better and force longer exchanges. Success at this level depends on using setup shots to manipulate the opponent's position before attempting a winner.

One effective tactic involves alternating between low balls at the feet, such as a chiquita, and high lobs. This forces the net player to move forward and backward, creating gaps in their defense. Once the opponent is forced into a corner or pushed back, the opportunity to attack into open space arises. Maintaining a solid net position is vital throughout these rallies. Moving forward too aggressively without a clear advantage leaves space behind, allowing opponents to counter and take the net. Patience and preparation define the transition to advanced play, where rallies often last dozens of shots before an opening appears.
