Choose your shot based on the depth of the opponent's lob and your court position. Use the bandeja to recover the net, the vibora to apply pressure, and the bajada when you are pushed too far back to play a controlled bandeja.
The bandeja serves to recover the net position when the opponent's lob is not deep enough to force a defensive shot. Aiming crosscourt or to the center provides the best opportunity to keep the ball low and maintain control. Focus on length and slice rather than speed to ensure enough time to return to the net. The bajada, used when the lob is too deep for a bandeja, applies pressure from the back of the court. Keep the racket high during preparation and move behind the ball to ensure contact remains in front of the body.
The vibora aims to win the point or create an attacking opportunity when the lob is short and the ball is positioned to the right. Leave the ball slightly further back to allow for full body rotation and keep the arm loose. The rulo targets the intersection of the side glass and fence when the lob is short and directed toward the left shoulder. Rotate the torso fully toward the target and use the core for direction rather than the wrist. Finally, the smash requires hitting the ball at the highest point possible while using the legs to generate power. When playing on the right side, rely on partner communication for lobs to the left shoulder or use the gancho to avoid a high backhand volley.
