Net transition tactics: moving forward after a lob

This lesson focuses on the tactical movement required when transitioning from the back of the court to the net after hitting a lob. The coach explains that when a player hits a successful lob, the partner should move forward toward the net immediately. The transition requires a split step exactly at the moment the opponent makes contact with the ball. This allows the player to remain balanced and ready to react to the incoming bandeja or volley.

Positioning depends on the quality of the lob. If the lob is deep and forces the opponent into a difficult defensive position, the player at the net should hold their position to pressure the opponent. If the lob is short or allows the opponent to play an aggressive shot, the player at the net must be prepared to retreat to support their partner. Players are encouraged to cover the middle of the court rather than chasing angles, as this reduces the risk of leaving gaps open for the opponents. The coach emphasizes that communication and awareness of the partner's position are essential for maintaining a solid defensive structure.
