Effective net play relies on maintaining pressure rather than seeking immediate winners. Players should aim volleys at the opponent's feet to force weak returns, preventing lobs and allowing for a closer net position. Moving from four meters to three meters from the net creates a significant tactical advantage. By keeping the ball low and slow with heavy slice, players force opponents into errors while maintaining their own court control.

Success comes from stringing together three or four high-quality shots. A single poor shot, such as a ball hit too hard into the middle that bounces high, resets the rally and allows the opponent to lob. Consistency is the primary objective. Players who maintain 70 percent power and avoid unforced errors at 40-40 are more effective than those who attempt risky winners. When pressuring one opponent, maintain that focus rather than switching targets, as changing direction often gives the inactive player an easy ball to exploit.
