Net positioning: moving in semicircles

Effective net play relies on moving as a pair within a coordinated structure rather than standing on a static line. Players should visualize a large semicircle that encompasses the movement of the entire team. This structure prevents players from colliding when chasing balls and eliminates the large gaps that opponents exploit. When the ball moves, the team shifts along this arc to maintain coverage of both the middle and the side alleys.

Individual movement requires smaller semicircles that allow a player to cover their specific zone while remaining ready to react. The player covering the middle must commit fully to that area to avoid hesitation. If the ball is played to the side, the player shifts with their entire body weight to reach it. After moving to intercept a ball or apply pressure, a player must immediately return to the center of their semicircle to reset. This system creates constant pressure on the opponents, forcing them to play under duress while the team maintains a solid, organized defensive and attacking formation.
