Effective net coverage requires both players to shift in unison based on the ball's location. When the ball is directed into a corner, the player on that side moves to cover the line while the partner shifts toward the center line. This movement ensures the middle remains protected against high-percentage shots. Avoid standing too close to the side fence, as this leaves the center vulnerable to simple passing shots.

Players often struggle because they remain static or fail to anticipate the opponent's next move. When the ball is in the center, both players maintain an equal distance from the center line to minimize exposed angles. If the opponent hits a difficult angle toward the far side, accept that risk rather than abandoning your defensive structure. Constant communication between partners helps clarify who is responsible for the middle and who guards the line. This approach benefits pairs who find themselves consistently beaten by shots down the middle.
