Effective net play relies on reading the opponent's position to dictate the pace. When the opponent stands at the back of the court, a deep volley forces them to remain defensive. If the opponent moves forward, playing a soft chiquita or a lob prevents them from attacking. Hitting the ball down the middle creates confusion between opponents and limits their angles for a return. Avoid hitting towards the side glass when the opponent is positioned to intercept, as this often gifts them an easy winner.

Impact the ball in front of the body to maintain control and direction. When applying spin, keep the racket behind the neck rather than using excessive power. If the ball sits too high, it allows the opponent to move forward and attack. Aim to make the ball bounce deeper in the court to keep the opponent pinned to the back wall.
