Net position and movement tactics

Winning a point relies on reaching and holding the net position. Being at the net allows players to hit downward, forcing opponents into a defensive stance while minimizing the gaps between partners. Both players must move as a unit, whether pushing forward to the net or retreating together when lobbed. Serving and volleying serves as the primary method to claim this advantageous territory immediately.

Returning players start in a defensive position at the back. The goal is to transition to the net without taking unnecessary risks. A consistent lob provides the time needed to move forward safely. Avoid lingering in no-man's land, where volleys lack punch and groundstrokes are difficult to execute. When caught in the middle, hit a defensive shot and return to a stable position quickly. If opponents occupy that middle space, target their feet to force upward returns and create opportunities to attack.
