How can I set up an easy lob?

Play the ball fast to the opponent's body or low to their feet. These shots force the net player to hit upward, giving you the time and space needed to execute your lob.

Creating the right conditions for a lob requires specific ball placement to force a weak return from the opponents. Playing fast to the body prevents the net player from generating power or hitting a sharp angle, often forcing a ball that comes off the back glass. This allows for a controlled lob from the back of the court.

Another strategy involves hitting low to the feet of the net player. When the ball is below net height, the opponent must reach down to volley, which limits their ability to attack. Depending on the situation, one can either move forward to take the next ball as a volley lob or stay back to wait for the return. Finally, directing the ball high to the opponent's backhand works when they are positioned near the center line. This prevents them from hitting a sharp cross-court angle, making it safer to execute a lob or a chiquita.
