Finishing volley: technique and court positioning

Finishing a point at the net requires creating space by forcing opponents out of position with setup volleys. Before attempting a winner, observe the opponent's body position to confirm they are struggling to reach the ball. Once the opportunity arises, move forward quickly to cut off the angle and take time away from the opposition.

Choose between a slice volley to make the ball die off the back glass or a flatter, faster contact if the opponent is pinned against the glass. Always maintain a margin for error rather than aiming for the extreme edges of the court. Practice the slice motion by standing on the opposite side of the net to develop a feel for the distance and the brush required to make the ball drop effectively.
