Where should I stand when defending at the back of the court?
Stand between the service line and the back wall, roughly 1.5 meters from the side glass. Think of your side of the court as your house and stay in it to keep your defense organized.
What this lesson covers
Defensive positioning requires standing between the service line and the back wall. This space allows enough room to react to rebounds off the back or side glass. Standing too close to the back wall makes incoming balls uncomfortable to play, as there is no time to prepare the swing.
The court is divided into two zones of four meters each, with a two-meter shared space in the middle. Each player manages their own house, covering everything that lands within their four-meter zone. While players should assist their partner in the middle when necessary, the priority is maintaining one's own position. Staying roughly 1.5 meters away from the side wall provides the best coverage for shots coming toward the corner or the center.
