The contrapared shot serves as a last resort when a player cannot get behind the ball. The primary goal remains to move quickly to the glass, wait for the ball, and play with the face toward the opponents. Relying on the wall too often limits tactical options and makes the ball easier for opponents to smash due to the added topspin.

Technique requires a loose arm and a low-to-high swing path. Starting with the racket near the ground and finishing high ensures the ball clears the net without needing excessive force. A flat contact provides the most control, while slice should be avoided as it rarely clears the net. Maintain space between the body and the racket to avoid self-injury. When practicing, ensure the feeder provides difficult balls to simulate realistic match situations where the wall is actually necessary.
