The bajada functions as a smash, vibora, or bandeja played off the back wall. Success depends on moving faster than the lob to reach the ball early, allowing for a moment of stillness before contact. Keep the racket head high throughout the movement to ensure the ball travels downward. If the racket drops, the shot tends to float rather than penetrate the court.

Training involves hitting to two distinct targets, the center and the cross-court, while alternating between fast and slow speeds. Hitting cross-court requires moving closer to the side glass to ensure contact occurs in front of the body. A slow, well-placed ball to the feet often forces more errors than a high-speed smash, as it requires the opponent to use their racket actively to block. When the bajada is effective, opponents move toward the net, creating space behind them for a potential lob. Players should practice making decisions based on the height of the ball, choosing the center for lower contact points and angles for higher ones.
