Moving the opponent requires identifying open spaces on the court. When opponents are at the net, the space behind them or in the middle of the court provides targets for lobs or controlled shots. Cross-court shots offer more longitudinal and horizontal angles compared to parallel shots, which are limited by the net player's position. A short ball near the net pulls an opponent forward, creating space behind them for a follow-up shot. Consistency remains the priority, so players should avoid risky shots outside the imaginary V-zone, which extends one meter from the side walls.

Players must analyze their own strengths across technical, physical, mental, and tactical categories. If a backhand is weak, use the lob to stay in the point rather than attempting high-risk shots. When assessing opponents, focus on their specific weaknesses, such as a poor smash or limited movement. Matching personal strengths against these identified weaknesses determines the tactical plan. Effective tactics involve adjusting the ball's speed, height, and depth to dictate whether the opponent moves forward or backward.
