The backhand player possesses significantly more court space to execute a successful smash compared to the drive player. The backhand side offers four meters of glass surface area, whereas the drive side provides only two. This geometric advantage makes the backhand player the primary attacker for finishing points. When the drive player sets up a high ball, the backhand player must capitalize on this opportunity to close the point.

The drive player faces tighter constraints and must prioritize precision over raw power. A drive player needs to maintain a firm neck and stable posture to keep the ball in play, as they lack the same margin for error. While the drive player focuses on building the point and hitting lobs through the middle to force the opponents into uncomfortable positions, the backhand player carries the burden of the finish.
