Winning the point requires specific shot selection based on court position. The pop out, or out by four, starts with a position close to the net. The racket stays high before the smash hits the ball downward. Minimal physical power is needed because the wrist snap generates the necessary force to clear the fence.

For the forehand volley, the racket starts above the ball. A downward brushing motion creates slice to keep the trajectory low. Aiming down the middle of the court reduces the margin for error.
