Corner reading: ball distance and trajectory

Reading the corner depends on the proximity of the ball to the player. When the ball travels on a path that forces the player to move or let the ball pass between their legs, it will hit the back wall first and close toward the side glass. This trajectory requires the player to adjust their position to avoid contact with the ball.

When the ball is clearly far away from the body, it will hit the side glass first and open toward the back wall. This movement pulls the player toward the side glass. Relying on this simple distance check allows for faster reactions during a rally compared to calculating geometric angles in the corner.
