Bandeja and vibora: technical differences

The bandeja and vibora differ primarily in the point of impact and the resulting ball rotation. For a bandeja, the player strikes the ball at the 6 o'clock position, brushing underneath to maintain control. In contrast, the vibora requires striking the ball at the 3 o'clock position to generate side spin. The orientation of the racket tip serves as a visual cue: it points toward the fence for a bandeja and toward the ceiling for a vibora.

These technical variations dictate the ball's trajectory off the glass. A vibora often forces the ball to travel wider or hit the double glass, keeping it trapped in the corner. When playing from the right side, a vibora can cause the ball to move perpendicularly off the glass, moving faster than a bandeja. While a longer preparation or a specific grip can facilitate these shots, neither is strictly required, as personal preference and the specific incoming lob determine the most effective execution.
